Heated Rivalry was the name on everyone's lips at the 2026 Golden Globe Awards, as the hit show's stars, Hudson Williams and Connor Storrie, were slated to present the award for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series at this year's ceremony.

The moment was a queer highlight of the night. Before they appeared, "extra security" in the form of protection from two UFC fighters swept the stage, a playful nod to the actors getting mobbed everywhere they go. The two stars then walked out to Chappell Roan's "Pink Pony Club" and raucous applause. In their bit, Storrie played up his nerves, so Williams had to help calm him down by telling him to imagine the audience in "you know," meaning their underwear. "I don't know if that works considering everyone's seen us, you know," Storrie said.

"You think everyone in the audience has seen Heated Rivalry?" Williams asked his co-star, who received enthusiastic applause. Storrie seemed unconvinced, saying the response could be interpreted as a "maybe," before conceding that the audience's trainers, mothers, and daughters have.

They then read out the nominees, which included Aimee Lou Wood, Carrie Coon, Erin Doherty, Parker Posey, Catherine O’Hara, and Hannah Einbinder — before announcing Doherty as the winner for her role in the Netflix series Adolescence.

After the lesbian actress won, she kissed her partner and made her way onstage in a state of shock. Addressing the crowd, she started her speech saying, "I made a promise to my mom I wouldn’t swear, but what the fuck? Holy shit! Sorry mom."

"I didn’t want to assume, but I feel like we all know therapists," Doherty said in her acceptance speech. Life can be tough. Mental health is everything. Thank you to therapists, and it was an honor to play one.”

This win comes just a few months after Doherty's win at the 2025 Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited Anthology Series or Movie, which was also for her role in the acclaimed Netflix miniseries.
