The world got to know Colton Underwood on season 14 of The Bachelorette, which was led by Becca Kufrin. He was then chosen as the lead of his own season of The Bachelor shortly after. During this time, though, Underwood was still reconciling with the fact that he's a gay man, and after taking a few years to come to terms with his identity, Underwood came out as gay and documented his coming out journey in the Netflix docuseries Coming Out Colton. The show also featured gay athletes like Michael Sam, Gus Kenworthy, David Kopay, and Esera Tuaolo, who were able to attest to how hard it's been to be an LGBTQ+ person in sports. In 2022, Underwood came back to reality TV to compete on CBS' Beyond the Edge, which he ultimately won.

Between so many Hollywood projects and business endeavors, Underwood found love along the way with political strategist Jordan C. Brown, who is best known for working with President Barack Obama. He has also worked alongside high-profile Democratic politicians such as Kamala Harris, Pete Buttigieg, Cody Booker, Gavin Newsom, and Nancy Pelosi, to name a few.

Underwood and Brown reportedly started dating around September 2021. Then, in February 2022, the couple officially announced that they had gotten engaged.
