Pose star Mj Rodriguez went on A Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night and she didn't only talk about her role on the award-winning FX drama. The star also revealed that she's working on her own comic book! Girl, we knew you were talented, but we didn't know how many talents you have!
"This is my character," Rodriguez smiled, as she held up a book of drawings. "As you can see, we're going through name changes. I don't know what I'm going to name her, it was either Nivea or Patience." The drawings show a tall, thin, and beautiful woman with sharp cheekbones and powerful hair.
"I've been building her up. She's kind of like me, she's this misunderstood girl in the world. She has a lot, obviously, that's stacked against her, but she beats the odds." That sounds like a great story, and one that Rodriguez would be great at telling.
When can we expect to see the book? Well, Rodriguez says she's still working on it, but making progress. "I'm like 26 pages in, almost done with the second draft, so I'm really happy with it!" We can't wait to see it!

Rodriguez is a huge fan of comics. As a kid, she went into her uncle's room and stole his comic books which got her hooked. when asked what role she would love to play from the Marvel or DC universes, she points to Marvel's Elektra.
Rodriguez is currently slaying it as Blanca Evangelista on the third and final season of Pose, Steven Canals' critically acclaimed drama about New York's ballroom scene. In the current season, Blanca is trying to balance her personal life, her new relationship, and her job as a nurse's aid.
Other than this as-yet-unnamed comic book, Rodriguez will also be starring alongside Maya Rudolph in an upcoming Apple comedy series. The unnamed series follows Rudolph as Molly, a "woman who's seemingly perfect life is upended after her husband leaves her with nothing but 87 billion dollars." Rodriguez plays Sofia, the hard-working executive director of the non-profit Molly funds.
Even though Pose may be coming to an end, Rodriguez is just starting to ramp up, and we cannot wait to see everything she does next.
