Vesta Lugg is a Chilean vlogger and musician with over a million followers on Instagram and she just came out.
According to Gay Times, Lugg was participating in the popular "assume something about me" meme. In the meme, a person's followers submit things they assume about the answerer and they respond in their stories with a true or false. One of Lugg's fans asked if she identifies as bisexual, to which she replied "true" and posted a rainbow emoji, to which we say congratulations!!
Lugg expanded on her answer, saying, "I think sexuality is fluid. And perhaps more as a child, from the information I had, I assumed that as I was always with men, therefore I was straight."
She also acknowledged her privilege to be able to talk openly about the subject. The 25-year-old singer said she was lucky to be able to "say that I want to love who I want to love and deconstruct what I thought I had to be because of what they told me it meant to be a woman."
Lugg was born in Ottawa, Canada and moved to Chile with her family when she was just three years old.
Lugg is one of several young women to come out via social media this year, following actress Maddie Hasson and influencer JoJo Siwa.
Hasson, who starred in the YouTube series Impulse, was participating in the "show me a photo" challenge when a fan asked to see a photo with something gay or bi. Hasson replied by posting a selfie with the caption "hi, I'm bi and proud."
Siwa, 17, sparked rumors she was coming out when she posted a video on TikTok decked out in her usual rainbow garb dancing and singing along to Lady Gaga's anthem 'Born This Way."
The former Dance Moms star later confirmed her coming out when she posted a selfie on Twitter in a shirt that says "Best. Gay. Cousin. Ever" with the caption, "my cousin got me a new shirt."
It truly is wonderful seeing young people have so many ways to confidently come out. Congratulations to all of them.
