One of gay Instagram's favorite creative couples has broken up. Announced on their respective accounts today Milk and James Whiteside have split after a decade of being together.
"My love James Whiteside and I have amicably come to the decision to end our relationship," Milk, who came to fame on RuPaul's Drag Race, wrote in a post. "I will love and continue loving the man I fell in love with at 20 years old. James will always remain a constant source of joy, laughter, inspiration, and love for me."
"Thank you for your love hooves," he continued. "Comments not needed." The comments for the post were turned off. Whiteside's post about the relationship was similar, stating that the pair had "lovingly decided" to end things.
"We have been through amazing and beautiful journeys together, filled with deep care and laughter," Whiteside said of the 12 years, which Milk described in as "magical" in an Instagram story. "He is and will always be my magical unicorn! Thank you for an exquisite and inspiring time in my life babe," the dancer continued.
In 2015, Out featured the couple's relationship as a part of a portfolio. At the time, Whiteside revealed that he helped to first put Milk in drag for a party. At the time he was dancing with Boston Ballet and performing as a music artist. Milk even credited the performer, in part, with helping him get on Drag Race. Since, the two have built quite massive careers for themselves.
"The two of us have these sort of ridiculous lives," Whiteside said at the time. "We’re very busy and working all the time, so the time when we can sit around is precious and rare. It’s good to create some special moments."
But don't think this is the end of the line for love in their lives. When a fan wrote to Milk that they no longer believed in love after reading the news, he wrote in reply: "Baby, I still believe in love so quit your heartache."
