Paula Abdul Accidentally Injured Julianne Hough at the BBMAs

Wednesday night's Billboard Music Awards included a gag-worthy performance by former American Idol judge and '80s icon Paula Abdul. Abdul delivered a medley of her biggest hits, "Straight Up," "(It's Just) The Way That You Love Me," "Opposites Attract," "Cold Hearted" and "Forever Your Girl."

But those weren't Abdul's only hits at the BBMAs: during her performance, Abdul tossed one of her trademark huge hats into the audience. With the precision of a sniper, Abdul's hat made a direct beeline for Dancing with the Stars favorite Julianne Hough, nailing her in the throat. At age 56, Abdul is still literally coming for the other girls necks. We...have to stan.

Hough laughed and mugged for the camera -- and hopefully kept the hat as a souvenir -- but later called Abdul out for her unwarranted attack on Twitter, posing with a fake neck brace. "The result of the honor of being hit in the neck by @PaulaAbdul's flying hat!" she wrote. "Love you, babe!!!"

Abdul responded: "OMG IM PEEING MY PANTS!!!!! You know it was with love." Ha! I have a hard time believing this wasn't a calculated attack -- the most believable part of that tweet was Paula Abdul peeing her pants.

During E! News' red carpet coverage, Abdul spoke about returning to the stage, saying that "if you align yourself in that heart space what you love to do, then you're on the right path. You have to be willing to make sharp left turns and sharp right turns ... It's hard to make it in this business. You can't take things too seriously, and as I get older the more I'm in the moment, the more I appreciate everything that's going on." And I appreciate her aim!

Following her comeback at the BBMAs, Andul has announced a Vegas residency. I wonder if she'll make audience members sign a liability waiver in the case of flying hats...
