This Is How Many Millions Jeffree Star Made From YouTube in 2019

The makeup mogul was one of the platform's top five earners, again.

Jeffree Star is a wildly controversial figure. And apparently controversy sells! The star, who built his platform, following, and subsequent business on YouTube was recently named one of YouTube's top 10 earners for 2019. The news makes Star the sole makeup vlogger to make the list, but also the only openly gay personality. Last year, he ranked similarly.

Though Star got his start on MySpace become ... a star, until he hit YouTube. There, instead of releasing music, he began to do makeup tutorials. Those makeup tutorials begat Jeffree Star Cosmetics, what he says is currently an eight figure business. He runs a hell of a shop. Earlier this year he sold a reported one million eyeshadow palettes through a collaboration with Shane Dawson. The sale was historic for the company, and Star announced in November that he would make the collection a permanent part of his offerings. But it hasn't been all roses for Star.

As the mogul's profits have risen he's found himself in endless controversies and issue endless apologies. He's said incredibly racist things in videos that have surfaced online, berated various women, and harassed others. He also stepped into other public feuds like that of James Charles and Tati Westbrook, and attacked Kylie Jenner for her makeup brand. One could say he is as much known for his makeup as he is for his drama, but maybe that's all a part of the business.

Forbes reported that this year, from his YouTube affiliated ventures, Jeffree Star made a whopping $17 million -- which is down from the $18 million he reportedly made in 2018. This does not include his profits from his makeup business, so one can truly only imagine -- Star has in the past called his YouTube income "play money." Just this month it was announced that he bought a $14.6 million mansion as a Christmas gift to himself in California because he "outgrew" his old place.

Well if he's feeling charitable, we would gladly take the old place off his hands!
