Happy Friday, Out readers!
It’s the end of another week, so I’m here with your Friday newsletter!!
The Gay Yeehaw agenda is going strong this week, as we still can’t (and don’t want to) stop listening to Cowboy Carter. I truly don’t know when I’m going to stop listening to this album and nothing else.
It was also a big week for Drag Race drama! James Ross, aka King Tyra, called out Beyoncé publicly when he realized that her new “Texas Hold ‘Em (Pony Up Remix)” sounds an awful lot like a remix she made and posted online.
That wasn’t the only drag callout we wrote about, as this week Drag Race star Jan Sport tweeted about disgraced former contestant Sherry Pie trying to make a return to the public eye after her catfishing scandal. “I never need to see Sherry on my timeline ever again,” Jan Sport said, before sharing even more tea on what really went down that season.
If you want to read more about Drag Race queens who have retired from drag, whether because of controversies, or their own personal decisions, check out this list from our resident Drag expert, Bernardo Sim!
If drag isn’t your thing (or even if it is!), maybe check out the first preview for the upcoming Sandman spinoff, Dead Boy Detectives, which looks like it’s going to be at least just as queer as the original show! We love The Sandman, and absolutely cannot wait for this show to premiere!
Now, let's see what else happened in queer pop culture this week.
14 queens who quit or retired from drag after 'RuPaul's Drag Race'
Logo TV; Crave/World of Wonder; MTV
The 'Dead Boy Detectives' come to life in the trailer for the new (possibly gay?!) Netflix series
Netflix
Meet Ryan Beatty, the out singer-songwriter who helped Beyoncé craft 4 songs on 'Cowboy Carter'
Warner Music; Parkwood Entertainment
Meet Katy O'Brian, breakout star & heartthrob of 'Love Lies Bleeding'

Gayest Song of the Week
Omar Apollo is back! The sexy singer released a new song, “Spite,” and we are obsessed! Apollo has such a smooth voice, and it sounds great contrasted against the crunchy electric guitar in this song! Make sure you check it out!
Comment of the Week
The comment of the week belongs to mm.orgaan on Instagram, who commented on our “Meet Katy O’Brian” article, letting us know that she’s been on this train for a long time. “I’ve been waiting for these moments since 2018, everyone stan miss katy obrian.” We’re glad your patience has paid off!
If you want your comment to be featured in a future newsletter, follow and comment on our Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and X (Twitter).
This was a bit of a chill week for the Out team when it comes to attending events. Out.com editor Raffy Ermac attended the Ripley premiere, and I took my fiancee to Disneyland for her birthday (she had never been before. While Disney the corporation has a long, well-documented history of pretty iffy queer representation and actions, Disneyland itself is full of hard-working queer people, and they really make the magic come to life, so shout out to them!
