At his family’s 84-year-old real-estate dynasty, Rose controls over 38,000 residences. Rose is also a philanthropist, dropping big bucks on LGBT causes (including $500,000 in 2006 to defeat an anti-equality congresswoman from New York) and culture, recently spending (with partner Peter McQuillan) $4 million on a new arts building for Miami’s Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden.
