Emerald City Trailer Reimagines The Wizard of Oz

NBC released the official trailer for their new Wizard of Oz-inspired series, Emerald City last Wednesday.

The series was announced about a year ago and offers a darker, grittier take on the classic Oz tale. Dorothy is played by newcomer Adria Arjona. The cast also features Daredevil's Vincent D'Onofrio as the Wizard and hunky British actor Oliver Jackson-Cohen as the Scarecrow/Dorothy's love interest.

The 10-episode arc is directed by The Cell and Mirror Mirror director Tarsem Singh. Singh co-executive produced the series as well, alongside show writer David Schulner, Shaun Cassidy, Josh Friedman, and Matthew Arnold.

From what can be seen from the trailer, this series will be vibrant and a unique take on the L. Frank Baum classic tale.

The series premieres January 6 on NBC.
