Heartstopper Cast Danced in Front of Homophobic Protestors At Pride
Joe Locke and Kit Connor were present.
The cast of Netflix's Heartstopper made a lot of waves during this weekend's London Pride Parade.
In several different shared videos on social media, the cast of Heartstopper season one was captured standing up to homophobic and transphobic bigots who were protesting at a Pride Parade in the U.K.
In a particular video that went viral - nearly 11 million views as of this writing - Joe Locke (Charlie Spring) is seen dancing and giving the middle finger to protestors right in front of him. His first love interest on the show, Sebastian Croft (Ben Hope), is also seen in the video standing up to these problematic individuals.
Fortunately, the protestors at London Pride were certainly drowned out by the wave of love, music, and dance that was coming from the LGBTQ+ attendees.

In a response tweet, Kit Connor (Nick Nelson) addressed the questions from fans about whether or not he was there.
The actor wrote:
"Uhhh I was videoing and screaming at them but please don't be mistaken, it wasn't 'Kit Connor and the rest of the cast,' it was [Joe Locke] and [Sebastian Croft] front and centre. Please give them the credit for doing something so powerful."

Locke also had a follow-up tweet that read:
"Had to do my job properly [shrug emoji]."
Despite its mainstream success as a hit Netflix series, the stars of Heartstopper have had to deal with some pushback from the general public that is unwilling to accept LGBTQ+ characters and storylines on their TV screens.
In any case, the streaming service renewed Heartstopper for seasons two and three, so this fantastic show isn't going anywhere.
Heartstopper is now streaming on Netflix.
