A new unisex scent inspired by an odorless flower
The discreet, uber-cool Japanese brand Comme Des Garcons surprised us with the launch of its latest fragrance, Floriental, earlier this month at Dover Street Market London. In the world of perfume, an oriental fragrance refers to a blend of ingredients reminiscent of the East, such as exotic flower notes, spices, and resins. Those tend to be reserved for evenings, as they project a lot, but in pure Comme Des Garcons tradition, there's nothing too overpowering here. Inspired by the cistus flower, a flower that has no odor, Floriental is mysterious, subtle, and layered, with notes of labdanum, an amber-like resin extracted from cistus plants, and fresh pink pepper that balance out smoky incense and warm sandalwood. A hint of plum liquor adds a sweet, seductive factor to the mix -- and to make you stand out effortlessly this fall.
Floriental by Comme des Garcons, 3.4 fl. oz., $131, available exclusively at Dover Street Market and DoverStreetMarket.com
