Although our favorite to make the team, Josh Dixon, wasn't named to the five-man U.S. men's gymnastics team after the two-day Olympic trials this past weekend in San Jose, Ca., it was a strong performance by Dixon.

The eight-man U.S. Olympic men's gymnastics team was announced on July 1. Danell Leyva and John Orozco earned automatic spots. The three other spots were given to Jake Dalton, Jonathan Horton, and Sam Mikulak. As OutSports reports, "Mikulak was the interesting selection, as he has battled injuries for various parts of the last year and was not able to complete the full rotation over the last two events." That means if he, or anyone else, is unable to go, they'll be replaced by one of the three alternates: Chris Brooks, Steven Legendre, or Alex Naddour.
