Watch Lena Waithe and Halle Berry Make Out on Jimmy Kimmel Live
Celebrities taking over for talk show hosts is all the rage these days, and on Wednesday night Lena Waithe filled in for Jimmy Kimmel on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Waithe opened the show with a monologue, telling the audience that they were watching "a girl from Chicago living out her Arsenio Hall dreams." She joked about wanting to host her own talk show as a kid, with Bill Cosby as the lead guest and R Kelly as the musical guest -- clearly, that didn't work out quite the way she hoped.
After a bit about hosting a lesbian gala in Miami where she was offered cocaine after joking that she was too pregnant to drink, Waithe admitted that she was nervous and needed some words of encouragement. Kimmel's security guard Guillermo advised her to push the "Berry Button," which summoned none other than Oscar-winner Halle Berry to the studio to give Waithe a pep talk.
"Baby, what can I do for you," Berry asked.
"Look, I need some inspiration," Waithe replied. "Like that Oscars speech you gave, that got me hyped. I need you to give me some of that Halle Berry juice."
After the lights turned low, Berry gave Waithe some words of wisdom. "Lena, you know I know you, right? We've worked together. So I know that you are a force of nature. You are a beautiful African American queen," she said. "Lena, tonight you are a writer, an actor, a producer and tonight you are a late-night comedian. You about to slay this show! And you are already winning, girl, because you are dressed way better than Jimmy ever was."
And then, as a final move to get Waithe hyped to host, Berry gave her a big Hollywood kiss.
We ship it! Someone start writing the fan fiction immediately.
