Brooklyn Nine-Nine Bisexual Character Struggles with Coming Out to Family

An important moment for the usually light comedy.

Police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine gave use a great example of a bisexual ally in a clip from a recent episode.

Detective Rosa Riaz (Stephanie Beatriz) has come out as bisexual to her coworkers. Now the stoic badass cop is deciding how, or even if, she will come out to her family. Luckily, she has Jake Peralta (showrunner Andy Samberg) to talk to.

In talking with Rosa, Jake shows just what a great ally should be: accepting, involved, understanding. He pretends to be Rosa and delivers an impassioned coming-out speech. Well, maybe a little too impassioned.

See for yourself. Watch the clip below.
