Anne Hathaway Wants ‘Princess Diaries 3’ as Bad as We Do

The Princess Diaries taught us so many invaluable lessons: corn dogs are delicious, it's not appropriate for royalty to jingle, slumping is not proper posture for a princess. And according to Anne Hathaway, we might be getting more royal wisdom soon. During an appearance on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live, Hathaway confirmed that a script for The Princess Diaries 3 exists (the original film's less compelling sequel The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, came out in 2004).

"I want to do it. Julie wants to do it," Hathaway told Andy Cohen. "We all really want it to happen, it's just we don't want to do it unless it's perfect, because we love it just as much as you guys love it. It's as important to us as it is to you."

Hathaway currently has several exciting projects in the works, including a Sesame Street film and a remake of early '90s classic, The Witches, in which Hathaway will play the Grand High Witch, who has haunted my nightmares for decades thanks to Anjelica Huston's legendary portrayal. Director Robert Zemeckis told Allocine that the film will be set in "the Gothic South in the 1960s and that's an exciting way to put a sociological spin on this kind of traditional witch story."

A rumored synopsis for the remake leaked this week on Geeks Worldwide: "When his parents are killed, a young boy goes to live with his feisty, loving grandma, who had a terrifying encounter with witches when she was just a girl. When Grandma realizes that the witches have returned, she flees with the Boy to the swankiest resort in the South -- only to realize that they've wandered right into a nest of witches, headed by the Grand High Witch, who intends to transform the world's children into mice -- starting with the Boy..."

Between The Witches and The Princess Diaries, Anne Hathaway clearly intends to secure your love one beloved cultural touchstone at a time.
