Little monsters are less than a week away from the Oscar-worthy A Star Is Born. But the Lady Gaga film is not without competition. It shares an opening weekend with Marvel blockbuster, Venom.
But it appears the musical romantic drama has a competitive edge. Twitter has recently been flooded with negative review for Venom. And all the tweets feature very similar wording.
It would seem that Lady Gaga stans are sabotaging the opening weekend for Venom to give A Star Is Born the upper hand. Buzzfeed reached out to one of the users who confirmed the theory.
"It's us Gaga fans creating fake IDs to trash the Venom premiere," said @LGMonster95. "They both are getting released on the same day, so we want more audience for A Star Is Born."
Although Venom is set to beat out A Star Is Born with an opening weekend of up to $65 million versus $30 million, the real reviews for the Marvel film haven't been so flattering either. And with the Oscar buzz surrounding A Star Is Born, it's safe to say it will do just fine with or without the Twitter bots.
