Since the white nationalist rally in Charlottesville enflamed racial tensions already stoked by Trump's run for the presidency and subsequent win, the artist had been vocal about the indignities and abhorrent behavior that has dominated headlines over the last few days. "Deleting my twitter soon," she wrote, "but before I dip, when we gonna pull up? & what we got to do get to my new hero Takiyah Thompson free?"

Though that was her last tweet before her account went off the grid, Solange shared an impassioned message later on her Instagram story. "Fuck white supremacist, fuck Nazis, fuck your stale ass bland ass monuments, fuck asking folks to be graceful," were just some of the highlights in the thoughts she shared, before talking about her son. "My sons first day of school has been in the midst of seeing these bullshit images that still tell him this system was built to be against him," she wrote. "Thinking about demanding he not be required to take 'American History' because its deep dark rooted ugliness continues to live right now, right before our eyes."
