New App Dubbed the 'Uber For Escorts' is Making Sex Work Safer

"People never think about online security from the point of view of a sex industry worker, but they arguably need it more than any other professional."

A new app named Rendevu is making sex work safer, streamlined and more efficient. Queerty has called it the "Uber for Escorts," and the name isn't far from the mark.

Rendevu requires credit card information before any meet-up--it lets escorts list their availability and rates right on their profile, and allows customers to find someone they're interested in within minutes.

What's more, each encounter is privately tracked, meaning a huge increase in the safety of everyone involved. And after the deed is done, all data is erased, so you don't have to worry about someone hacking your phone and finding out about your private sexual affairs.

"People never think about online security from the point of view of a sex industry worker," CEO Reuben Coppa told Daily Mail. "But they arguably need it more than any other professional."

The app has already raised $700,000 in funding, making it the only app of its kind to have any funding at all, Queerty reports.

"We're a technology company entering adult services, not the other way around," Coppa said. "This gives us a unique perspective on the industry and helps us solve safety, efficiency and usability issues effectively."
