John Oliver Condemns Jeff Sessions' Opinions on Weed With Help From Lady Gaga

"...if you’re going to live your life according to Gaga quotes, accept the entire canon."

On the latest Last Week Tonight, HBO host John Oliver ran a segment on legalizing marijuana, and used Lady Gaga to deflate Trump's newly appointed Attorney General Jeff Sessions' attack on the drug. Sessions had previously quoted Mother Monster in his attack on the drug, saying "Lady Gaga has said she's addicted to it and it's not harmless"--an unusual source for an American politican, indeed.

Oliver responded, saying, "Lady Gaga also said, 'I believe that men and women deserve to love each other equally,' as well as, 'Touch me in the dark, put your hands all over my body parts.' So please, Jeff, if you're going to live your life according to Gaga quotes, accept the entire canon." So, if Sessions is to follow Gaga's teachings to the fullest, he'll also have to respect women's bodies and same-sex couples--interesting.

Sessions has long voiced his opposition to marijuana use, previously suggesting that state-level marijuana legalization efforts would open states to violence, Huffington Post reports. "I don't think America is going to be a better place when people of all ages, and particularly young people, are smoking pot," Sessions stold reporters in February at the Department of Justice. "I believe it's an unhealthy practice, and current levels of THC in marijuana are very high compared to what they were a few years ago, and we're seeing real violence around that."
