In response to Hurricane Maria's mass destruction across Puerto Rico, RuPaul's Drag Race alumn Phi Phi O'Hara organized a fundraising extravaganza with her fellow Queens. The benefit, titled Queens United/ Reinas Unidas, was held earlier this month at Minneapolis' iconic music venue First Avenue, and featured live performances from an all star cast.

Names like Ginger Minj, Katya, Bob the Drag Queen and Milk joined forces to successfully raise $80k for the Somos Una Voz relief initiative, which was formed by Puerto Rican performers Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony. The profits from all tickets, merch and meet and greets sold at Queens United will help support the organization's effort to rush food, shelter, medicine, power, and communications to Puerto Ricans in need.
In addition to O'Hara, whose husband is Puerto Rican, Drag Race contestant and Queens United performer Naysha Lopez has close ties to the island, which she calls home. Her family's two-story house had its roof completely ripped off during Maria, and her uncle has become homeless, forced to live with his daughter until he can get back on his feet.
