Showing off some major breath control, Colbert and Stipe sing a painfully accurate version of the popular '80s song "It's The End of the World" by R.E.M.
The lyrics to the performance—complete with matching artwork—are comprised of cultural happenings over the course of this year.
Stipe admittedly doesn't contribute much lyrically to the performance, but serves a face that speaks for us all as we take a look back at everything that's happened.
As the song comes to an end they're joined by James Franco and together the trio help give 2016 the send off it oh-so-desperately needs.
