First Look: Taye Diggs as Hedwig

Taye Diggs is returning to Broadway in the most drag-tacular way possible.

The actor and Broadway will rock the wigs and heels as the titular role in the revival of of Hedwig and the Angry Inch starting July 22.

People released the exclusive first look of Diggs all glammed out in Hedwig's signature glittery makeup.

"Hedwig is the role of a lifetime. I'm looking forward to being challenged performance-wise on many levels, as well as being humbled by the musical's social implications," Diggs shared with the magazine. "I also like wearing nail polish."

The actor will begin his 12-week run as the transgender rocker -- who sings about her botched surgery -- replacing Glee star Darren Criss. Diggs is the sixth actor to don the high heels and fisnets since the musicial's Broadway revival last year.

Neil Patrick Harris, Andrew Rannells, Michael C. Hall, James Cameron Mitchell, and Criss all rocked out on stage prior to Diggs.

This is the first time Diggs has returned to Broadway since his last appearance in Wicked back in 2004.
