Tony Host Alan Cumming: Not Too Big Into Musicals

Alan Cumming

Gasp!

Though he may be one of Broadway's biggest stars, Alan Cumming says he's not too keen on musical theater.

The Cabaret lead, who will be co-hosting Sunday night's awards ceremony with darling of The Great White Way Kristin Chenoweth, told Seth Meyers last night that even though he has been on Broadway for years, he doesn't exactly command an encyclopedic knowledge of the genre.

"Whenever I'm around Broadway people, I'm always so embarrassed to admit I don't know musicals," said Meyers.

"Well, imagine being a Broadway person and being like that," retorted Cumming.

Cumming then went onto tell the story of when he was at West Village treasured piano bar Marie's Crisis and, midway through singing a song from Cabaret, he blanked on the lyrics. "The producers were just horrified," he says.

Here's to hoping he doesn't have another senior moment during Sunday night's big event.
