If you're eagerly awaiting Roisin Murphy's first album in eight years, Hairless Toys (we still can't get over that title), here's something to hold you over. The Irish chanteuse has given us an exclusive remix of her latest single, "Exploitation," courtesy of DJ Sneak. And considering it clocks in at an intense, dizzying 10 minutes, trust us--it's a gift that keeps on giving.
Murphy has said the song is "about selling out, manipulation, and exploitation within creative work and in a relationship," and with Sneak at the boards, you get the impression that shit has truly hit the fan. As the singer coos and whispers over an insanely propulsive beat, hissing hi-hats, and computer blips that ricochet through the track like laser beams, it sounds like the song might spin out of control at any minute. It doesn't, but the house party you play it at this weekend very well could.
Roisin Murphy's Hairless Toys is out May 12. And look for our interview with the singer next week.
