MTV is taking a step deeper into the fantasy realm of TV this January with The Shannara Chronicles. Based off the best-selling book series, Shannara takes place thousands of years in the future on a post-apocalyptic earth where three heroes work to thwart a demonic army from making its way back into the world.

The show features genre favorites, John Rhys-Davies (Lord of the Rings), and Manu Bennett (Spartacus, The Hobbit trilogy) and fresh faces like Austin Butler, Poppy Drayton, and Ivana Baquero.

The Shannara Chronicles premieres Tuesday, January 5 at 10 pm after the season premiere of Teen Wolf. Watch the trailer below.
