In the male-dominated tech industry, Lucy Guo is breaking ground as a bisexual Chinese American woman. The tech entrepreneur and investor became the youngest self-made female billionaire last year after Meta acquired a large stake of Scale AI, a company she cofounded in 2016 that trains AI models. In 2022, she founded Passes, a platform that allows celebrities and influencers to monetize their social media followings.
“I’m a builder. I’ve been making things since I was a kid. What I’ve always loved is putting something into the world and seeing people actually use it,” Guo says.
Beyond conquering digital spheres, the Miami resident is a DJ who recently dropped her first single, “Champagne on Me.” “Music started as a side quest, but it’s become this completely different creative outlet that makes me really happy, and I love that my life has room for both.”
“You don’t have to edit yourself into somebody else’s idea of what a successful person is supposed to look like,” she stresses. “You can be a CEO and an investor and DJ until 2 a.m.; you can care deeply about your work and still have a huge, weird, fun life outside of it.” @guoforit
