Although she has served as the City of Fresno’s first LGBTQ+ Liaison in the Office of Community Affairs for three years, Robin McGehee is having an impact far beyond California’s Central Valley.
In January, the married lesbian mom of two was part of a coalition that launched a neighbor-to-neighbor, community-to-community organizing effort that she says advocates “for life, liberty and pursuit of happiness of everyone — not just some: TogetherAcrossAmerica.org.”
McGehee was joined in this effort by the Gilbert Baker Foundation and the L-Project. Their mission is to create a multi-issue, intersectional movement focused on pushing back and out-organizing MAGA and Trumpism, which she says “is plaguing our country and the world.” At present, they have organizers in 48 states.
Her next big project is helping young leaders in Florida “fight back against the draconian rule that has plagued that state, and working to inspire them to own their power to produce the change they desire.”
“When we speak, we shape the world!” is the message she wants readers to hear. She asks everyone: “What shape are you giving our future? SpeakOUT! Join us at TogetherAcrossAmerica.org.” @robingetequalmcgehee
