Gay porn star Ibrahim Moreno was stopped Monday in a Tel Aviv airport for having "a muslim sounding name," Gaytimes reports. He was traveling from Ben Gurion back to his home in France.
According to Moreno, who was visiting the Israeli capital for a nightclub appearance, getting through security took more than 2 hours, during which he was interviewed four times by security personnel, had his suitcase emptied out, personal hygiene items thrown away and was forced to undress.
In a Facebook post, the French-Cuban adult film star wrote, "Today at the Tel Aviv airport back home I have been humiliated, treated like a terrorist and simply because my name is IBRAHIM. Why can not I have a name of Arab origin?" He added, "I'm GAY, I'm not a MUSLIM. I don't speak any Arabic language, but if I carry a cross that allows me to be judged and humiliated," noting that the delays almost caused him to miss his flight.
In response the Israeli Airports Authority said that security checks at "carried out on all travelers leaving the country regardless of their identity, nationality, etc, and in the procedures laid out by the authorized officials."
