How You Can Support LGBTQ Soldiers This Veterans Day

Check out these nine organizations. 

Today is Veterans Day, and considering the recent political upheaval, it has never been more important to unite our community.

LGBTQ veterans and military members sacrifice their safety every day to keep peace on American shores. This Veterans Day, learn more about the following organizations that work to ensure the protection of the rights of LGBTQ military members as they fight for our country.

1. American Veterans for Equal Rights

AVER is non-profit Veterans Service Organization dedicated to the equal rights of current and former members of the U.S. Armed Forces. Donate here.

2. SPART*A

SPART*A, which stands for Service members, Partners, Allies for Respect and Tolerance for All, is a group made up of LGBTQ members of the military. Donate here.

3. The National LGBT Veterans Memorial

This organization's goal is to raise enough money to build an LGBT Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. Donate here.

4. Transgender American Veterans Association

TAVA is an association that ensures the appropriate medical care for transgender veterans and military personnel. Donate here.

5. American Military Partner Association

AMPA is America's largest support network for LGBTQ service members and veterans and their families. Donate here.

6. Blue Alliance

Blue Alliance is an organization made up of U.S. Air Force Academy alumni who are part of the LGBTQ community. It is also dedicated to reconnecting the Academy with estranged LGBTQ alumni who have been disassociated from the Academy because of their gender and/or sexuality. Donate here.

7. Knights Out

Knights Out is an organization comprised of West Point cadets, alumni, staff, and faculty who support the LGBTQ members of the military. Donate here.

8. OutServe-SLDN

OutServe-Servicemembers Legal Defense Network (SLDN) is dedicated to providing legal assistance for LGBTQ service members worldwide. Donate here.

9. USNA Out

This association unites the LGBTQ alumni of the United States Naval Academy and is dedicated to reconnecting estranged servicemen with the Academy. Donate here.
