"Without a free press, we wouldn't have a functioning democracy."
Samantha Bee is the reigning Queen of Free Press, and proved it once again this weekend while hosting (Not The) White House Correspondents' Dinner, where she and a slew of other comedians indulged in President Trump-related roasting. The event was scheduled hours before the actual White House Correspondents' Dinner, neither of which Trump attended as he addressed a rally in Harrisburg, PA.
And not to be forgotten, Peaches played the theme song, "Boys Wanna Be Her," from Bee's TBS show Full Frontal, delivering a glam-punk performance prior to Bee taking the stage for her opening monologue. Lifted off her 2006 politically charged album, Impeach My Bush, Peaches' appearance also gave a nod to the evening's surprise guest: Will Ferrell impersonating George W. Bush.

Not The White House Correspondents' Dinner took place Saturday nightat Washington, D.C.'s Constitution Hall, which is owned by the non-profit group Daughters of the American Revolution. Sitting front row were members of the Commitee to Protect Journalists.
"These are the people you call if you leave the hall tonight and discover your car has been keyed by Sean Spicer," Bee said. "Without a free press, we wouldn't have a functioning democracy," she continued.
