Ingrid Elizabeth and Ty Greenstein met when their respective acts, Coyote Grace and Girlyman, toured together throughout 2011 and 2012. They decided to join forces for the 2014 challenge "Real Women, Real Songs," writing one song a week for a whole year. The result was Mouths of Babes and their debut EP Faith & Fumes.
Now married, Elizabeth and Greenstein have enlisted the help of some 800 Kickstarter backers, to produce their first full-length album, Brighter in the Dark, out today.
"We're grateful to have had a very successful Kickstarter, which gave us the freedom to record this album the way we wanted to," the duo said. "The result is a big, orchestral sound that ranges from dirty blues to Atlantic soul to literate folk, with vintage electric guitars, strings, and background harmonies from the likes of Birds of Chicago. We're thrilled."
