Hi Out readers!

Have you read the powerful and deeply personal coming out essay from Us the Duo's Carissa Rae Martin? It's one of our favorite personal essays we've hosted in a long time.

Martin was one half of the folk pop duo Us the Duo with her longtime husband Michael Alvarado. The two announced they had divorced in March. This month, Alvarado released a new song called "Homewrecker," in which he outed Martin and claimed she cheated on him.

"When you see her comin'/You better run then/Cause the next thing that you know she'll be your best friend/Ooh, the door will keep on openin'/Now she's ruined me forever, Don't forget she's a homewrecker," he sings.

Now, Martin is taking back her own narrative, telling her half of the story, and it's a compelling and beautiful one. If you haven't read it, now's your chance.

Now onto the week's best pop culture news!

Gayest Song of the Week

"Just Like That" by queer rapper Bree Runway is our latest Gayest Song of the Week! The blazing 2 minute, 18 second track holds nothing back. This is her first song since parting ways with record label EMI last year, and its a powerful statement!

Comment of the Week

Pentatonix singer Scott Hoying commented with words of love and support on Carissa Rae Martin's coming out essay.

"You are a LIGHT @carissaraemartin and I'm SO proud of you! It's not easy leaving a bad situation. I't not easy to come out publicly, esp on a different timeline than you planned," he wrote. "It's not easy being vulnerable and opening your heart for others to make judgements. To see you take the leap and own your power is so so inspiring! You are loved!"
