On the heels of the unexpected sleeper hit Heated Rivalry, a new hockey series adapted from a romance novel is set to be released, only this time it’s about a straight couple.

Off Campus, a new hockey romance series from Amazon Prime, is based on Elle Kennedy’s book series, which has sold over 3 million copies since its release in 2015 and has been a fan favorite on BookTok for years.

Is this show going to offer the same erotic queer sex, intense yearning, and joyful coming-out story that Heated Rivalry gave us? No, but Off Campus was in the works before Heated Rivalry became a massive hit, and despite its seeming lack of queer characters (lame), it’s already going viral on social media, where fans of the book series are both excited about the sexy actors who are starring and busy picking apart every moment of the trailer that is different from their beloved romance novel.

Bloom books

The Off Campus book series is a collection of five interconnected standalone romance novels, each one centered on a college hockey player at the fictional Briar U (except for one) who falls for a young co-ed. They feature all of the iconic romance novel tropes like fake dating, forced proximity, love triangles, and friends-to-lovers.

Each book — The Deal, The Mistake, The Score, The Goal, and The Legacy — can be read on its own, but characters introduced in one will become the main focus of a later novel. There are also several spin-off novels that exist in the same universe.

What is the plot of ‘Off Campus’ season 1?

Much like Bridgerton, each season of Off Campus will adapt one novel in the series and follow a different couple, with other side characters being introduced who later get their own season to star in.

Season 1 is an adaptation of The Deal, and centers on hockey-hating music major Hannah Wells with an unrequited crush on Justin Kohl, who is the lead singer in a college rock band.

To get the boy she’s infatuated with to give her the time of day, Hannah does what any self-respecting romance novel heroine would do: she tutors smoking hot hockey star Garrett Graham in exchange for him pretending to be her boyfriend in an elaborate ruse to make Justin jealous.

Who is starring in ‘Off Campus’?

Ella Bright (The Crown) is starring as Hannah, opposite Belmont Cameli (Until Dawn) as Garrett, and Josh Heuston (Dune: Prophecy) as Justin.

Season 1 will also introduce fans to Garrett’s hockey teammates, who will become the leading men in future seasons, including Antonio Cipriano (Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin) as John Logan, Stephen Kalyn (Motorheads) as Dean Di Laurentis, and Jalen Thomas Brooks (The Pitt) as John Tucker.

Steve Howey (Reba) will play Garett’s abusive dad Phil, while Mika Abdalla (The Pitt) will also appear as Allie Hayes, who will become Dean’s eventual love interest in a future season, and Khobe Clarke (Yellowjackets) will play Beau Maxwell, Dean’s football-playing best friend.

Is there a trailer yet?

Yes! The first official trailer was released on March 19, 2026, and it quickly went viral, likely because the book series is so popular — and because it showed Garrett Graham actor Belmont Cameli soaking wet in a locker room shower.

Since then, shirtless photos of all of the male stars of the series have been splashed all over social media.

Fans of the novel won’t have to wait long because Off Campus season 1 will premiere on Prime Video on May 13, 2026. The show got a series order in October 2024 and began filming in the summer of 2025, so it’s only taken about a year and a half to drop on streaming.
