Put Your Paws Down, Because Artpop Act II Is Officially NOT Happening

The long-rumored sequel album to Lady Gaga’s 2013 LP ARTPOP is just not happening.

Wake up from your “Sexxx Dreams,” babe. Act two of ARTPOP is officially dead.

DJ White Shadow (a.k.a. DJWS), who served as the main producer behind Lady Gaga’s ARTPOP, released a recent statement shutting down rumors about the long-rumored sequel to that iconic album.

The producer wrote via an Instagram story:

“No longer talking about ARTPOP. I am officially finished. Don’t ask me about it. Don’t talk to me about it.”

One can assume that Little Monsters never stopped flooding White Shadow’s DMs ever since ARTPOP was released in November 2013 and rumors about “Act II” came to the surface. As a result, he probably felt the need to put this ongoing speculation to rest… this time, for good.

Both Gaga and DJWS were on record talking about the possibility of a follow-up album back in the day. And yet, it’s now been almost 10 years since ARTPOP came out, and both artists have long moved on to new creative endeavors.

Though White Shadow was credited as a writer and producer for songs on Born This Way, ARTPOP, and even the A Star Is Born soundtrack, Gaga seemingly did not work with the producer for Chromatica.

While many fans kept up their hopes for act two of ARTPOP, White Shadow’s recent statement makes it very clear that this idea is no longer in the works. Maybe it’s time to put our paws down for a bit.
