"What am I gonna do with you?" Ray (Alexander Skarsgård) asks Colin (Harry Melling).
"Whatever you want," replies Colin, on his knees in an alley. Ray unzips.
So begins the spicy start of official trailer for Pillion, released Wednesday. It's also a fitting introduction of its two main characters.
Directed by Harry Lighting and based on the 2020 novel Box Hill by Adam Mars-Jones, the film is a queer BDSM romance, which follows the shy Colin's pursuit of Ray, a mysterious biker. Along the way, Colin discovers a new queer subculture, "authentic" kinky sex, and, as he phrases it in the trailer, "an aptitude for devotion."
Pillion has been a hit with critics (100 percent on Rotten Tomatoes) and on the awards circuit. Lighton, who also wrote the screenplay, has picked up a host of honors, including the Un Certain Regard – Best Screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival. During the press tour, which incorporated red-carpet moments with bikers and pups, Skarsgård has also emerged as a fashion icon.
Watch Pillion's trailer below. And catch it in theaters in the U.S. on February 6.
