Naomi Obsession: 'Falling From Grace'

A Campbell-centric recap of The Face Episode 3

The one thing to retain from last night's episode of The Face is that in modelling, there's no time for whiny bitches. Naomi Campbell does not want to hear your life story --and she's right!

When you get runway tips from the queen of all supermodels, you better suck it up and enjoy the ride. Unfortunately for Naomi, a bunch of girls on the show are trying to win her favors with endless tears and monologues on their family woes. I know this is great reality-TV, but seriously, who cares? Everybody has issues. The important thing is to overcome them and grow from your past. And Naomi has the authority to remind us what the reality of this business is.

In the third episode of the show, Brittany, a 26-year-old wannabe on Team Coco, and Ebony, a single mother from Indiana on Team Karolina, both end up in the bottom for their lack of sparkle on the runway. Brittany was going to be given the boot before the show even started, but she moved the judges with her unfortunate life story and won a hand-me-down spot on Coco's team. Girl, you're lucky you made it through, but don't try to play that trick twice on Naomi.

At judging, Brittany immediately pulls the absent-father card (like Naomi, she doesn't have a relationship with her biological dad), and Ebony starts tearing up about her daughter. At some point you need to be professional, and we know that Naomi is not having it. In one of her best moments so far, she responds bluntly: "I did not appear on the first September issue of Anna Wintour's American Vogue by saying to her 'this has been my life story...' No! She does not want to hear it. Both of you are playing on my heart strings, but that is not going to help me decide who goes home and who stays." You teach them, Naomi!

Ultimately, Ebony is rescued from the bottom and Brittany is sent home. Personally, I think the lines on her forehead were a ticking time-bomb anyway. So long, Brittany!
