Fashion and food aren't always the most harmonious of bedfellows, but last night the Swedish brand GANT presented its fall 2012 collection for its GANT Rugger off-shoot line with that combination in mind. Designer Chris Bastin was inspired by New York's foodie scene, and created a wardrobe of tailoring (for his imaginary brigade of dandy restauranteurs) and more casual, rustic sportswear separates (for his fantasy chefs). The presentation took place at, appropriately, the Lower East Side hot-spot The Fat Radish, where editors were served a platefuls of flavorful delights (think kale salad that was the perfect mix of bitter and citrus, a buttery baked Bass, an earthy grain salad, and, of course plenty of wine and other libations). Needless to say, both the meal, and the clothing, were extremely satisfying.
