On the eve of their fall 2012 show, Duckie Brown designers Steven Cox and Daniel Silver have been hired by Perry Ellis to create a special collection, due in stores next spring. The pair, who currently design an ongoing capsule shoe collection with Florsheim, have been brought on by chief merchandising officer at Perry Ellis, Doug Jakubowski, who is out to attract a more fashion-forward customer. "Perry Ellis was, and should be, a first thought when thinking about designer men's wear and Duckie Brown can take us to that place," Jakubowski told WWD. Cox and Silver, who were nominated for the CFDA Award for menswear in 2007, are known for their quirky, unconventional offerings, are an savvy choice for the company, who seems hungry to attract a new customer base. The Duckie Brown duo will continue to work on their own line, while working with the Perry Ellis's New York office. Expect to see their first outing hit runways during New York Fashion Week later this year.
