Sarah Paulson will join Nicolas Cage in The Runner, a political drama about an idealistic New Orleans congressman brought down by a sex scandal. According to Deadline, the American Horror Story star will play a PR consultant hired to rehab the politician's career.
This is not the first time Paulson has dabbled in political dramas. The actress portrayed Nicolle Wallace, senior advisor to Sarah Palin, in the HBO film Game Change.
The film will mark her return to the big screen where she was last seen in 12 Years a Slave.
In other casting news, Roland Emmerich's Stonewall continues to flesh out its cast. The real life drama added Matt Craven (FX's Justified) as Deputy Seymour Pine, a cop who sympathizes with the gay community. Pine led the police raid on Stonewall Inn in the early hours of June 28, 1969.
This is not Craven's first time working with Emmerich. He last appeared in the director's political action film, White House Down.
The rest of the Stonewall cast includes Jeremy Irvine, Caleb Landry Jones, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Ron Perlman, and Joey King.
