The reports that out singer Clay Aiken is making a bid for a North Carolina congressional seat are getting confirmation from more sources, and he's expected to make an announcement in February, according to WRAL News.
Aiken has met with Democratic consultants Betsy Conti, Nation Hahn and Gary Pearce, according to WRAL's sources. If he ran for the Democratic nomination in the 2nd district, he'd face a challenge in former state Commerce Secretary Keith Crisco, and attorney Houston Barnes.
Towleroad notes that Aiken spoke against Amendment One, North Carolina's marriage quality ban in 2012, though it was passed by voters 61%-39%. He'd face a tough battle as the district has been redrawn in recent years to make it more favorable to GOP candidates.
