In an impressive Op-Ed in this week's Hollywood Reporter, Out 100 cover star Kathy Griffin addresses one of the greatest taboos in the movie business: age.
Griffin, a proud 51, rails against the idea of sending older actresses to the glue factory or allowing age to define you more than passion or talent.
"No one wants to get old, no one wants to be put out to pasture," she writes, "but, Jesus Christ, how f--ing bleak is the situation that I, Kathy Griffin, Queen of Dick Jokes, have to step in and basically write some sort of f--ed-up Hallmark card to the women of Hollywood?! Ladies, this is not a drill!"
Griffin goes on to chronicle her own exercise regimen (hiking, swimming, and sex, FYI) and admits to a few trips to the plastic surgeon. But she makes her best point when she reveals this nugget: "So what's my secret to aging gracefully? I just don't give a shit."
