Listen -- We love Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciega and Stella McCartney (even if we're still waiting for her to design some eco-friendly clothing for the boys) but when WWD reported today that all three will be opening up storefronts in New York's infamous shopping- and tourist-trap Soho (once the beloved resting place of artists lofts and homeless people) our shoulders immediately tensed. Soho is already the home to every major luxury and mass-market brand, from the Gap to Louis Vuitton, making it difficult to navigate the clogged streets of lollygagging interlopers. While this booster shot of retail adrenaline is all sorts of chic, it will also serve as a test to tried and true New Yorkers' already-waning patience.
