The Cut just broke the news that Horacio Silva, one of the founding pioneers of the New York Times' online coverage and one of fashion's most well-connected players, is leaving his position as editor of the popular blog The Moment. Silva notes that he's been with the Times for one decade and had been planning to leave on May 5th, 2011 -- exactly ten years to the day after he was hired (he actually resigned on May 8th, making it just this much over a full decade.) T Managing editor George Gustines cheekily notes that "insanity was his beat." Also interesting about The Cut's post is its hysterical (and hopefully true) story about how Silva won the job -- by beating legendary former Times fashion editor Amy Spindler in a drinking competition. Oh boy, we hope that actually happened. Best wishes to Horacio on all his future endeavors. We're sure you'll still see him running around like a mad man during fashion week.
