Purveyor of all things classic, Mr. Ralph Lauren, is turning 71 today. He looks great, considering. Lauren, as a lot of us know is Mr. fancy-pants sportswear and has been the reigning king of sophisticated dress for quite some time now. What we here at Out really appreciate about him, is that he's also pretty much turned his clothing business (and just as an FYI, he never officially went to school to design) into a lifestyle brand that makes oodles and oodles of money. He'll hock anything from a cashmere suit to some jersey sheets if it will make him a buck. And he's made quite a few of them in his time. But seriously, for someone who never was trained in fashion design, he's done pretty well for himself, eh? So all you tragic souls breaking needles and cutting patterns over at Parsons, take note. Ditch the diploma and start your own business! Ralphy did, and look at him now.
