If you thought the American Dream was dead -- think again. Ukrainian singer-songwriter Lana Mir came to the U.S. after deciding that the Eastern European music scene wasn't her thing and after living in a tiny apartment buried deep in Brooklyn, waiting tables, and infiltrating NYC's jazz scene, she is preparing to release her debut eponymous album in August.
We caught up with Mir to chat about coming the U.S., her influences, and how she translates her breezy, summer songs into live tunes:
Afterward, Mir performed two songs from Lana Mir, including "Tears Are Not Enough" and "Summertime":
Lana Mir plays Arlene's Grocery, 95 Stanton Street, NYC, tomorrow, July 20, at 9pm. For more info, please visit her official MySpace page.
