The trailer for the long-awaited film adaptation of Maurice Sendak's beloved Where the Wild Things Are -- a.k.a. the hippest kids movie ever made -- was released this week. It looks gorgeous and the credits read like the intimidating invite list to the Cobble Hill birthday party of a five-year-old who is way cooler than you. Directed by Spike Jonze, who co-wrote the script with Dave Eggers, the film features stars Catherine Keener, Mark Ruffalo, and Lauren Ambrose and is being scored by the Yeah Yeah Yeah's Karen O and longtime Coen brothers composer Carter Burwell, with contributions from the Arcade Fire and Deerhunter's Bradford Cox. The project has undergone some serious retooling after disastrous early screenings -- including some heavy CGI effects -- and is now slated for release this October.
