On September 12, more than 100 LGBT musicians, visual artists, burlesque performers, comedians, and psychics will gather at Pine Street Station in downtown Austin for the first-ever Stargayzer Festival, a three-day extravaganza spanning three stages.
"It's great that LGBT artists are getting into bigger festivals and the straight music world is more accepting of them," says Brett Hornsby, the event's producer, "but it's important for them to unite and share their art with each other."
Though Stargayzer's headliners include Austra (pictured), Xiu Xiu, Ssion, and Mykki Blanco, the fest will also feature lesser-known talent. "There are so many queer artists out there who aren't getting the recognition they deserve," says Hornsby. "This is a community event with people coming from all over the world. There are going to be a lot of collaborations that have never happened before."
