Gay chef and author, Jordan Bruno, just won Mr Gay World 2018. The contest, which took place in South Africa, is, as the website explains, intended to “inspire and empower gay men to come together in a public performance that would show the world that being gay encompasses a broad spectrum. The mission to demonstrate that both inward beauty and physical appearance are equally important as is leadership and confidence. It was our hope that by bringing these men together they would share their experiences to open both each others’ as well as the public’s eyes that in many regions on our planet being gay is a challenge and a fight for basic human rights.”
As Attitude pointed out, he won six out of the 12 categories, including personal interview, social responsibility, best in formal wear, public voting, and photogenic and face of 2018.
What does he intend to do with his new title? He said:
“I also really want to release a line of videos tackling LGBTI issues within our own community. Femme shaming, body issues, lesbian discrimination at pride festivals, we’ve got so much to do.”
