Rosamund Pike loved ‘objectifying’ men in her empowering new film Ladies First

The acclaimed actress is also proudly embracing the title of a ‘lesbian icon’ from her passionate queer fanbase.

The talented actress is known for a slew of notable projects adored by her passionate gay fans, including Saltburn, I Care A Lot, The Wheel of Time, and many more. Throughout her impressive career, Pike has often played powerful female characters — and her latest film, Ladies First, is no exception.


Damien Sachs, played by Sacha Baron Cohen, is living large as a successful CEO in a man's world until everything gets turned upside down after a sudden injury. Once he awakes, he finds that his former assistant, played by Pike, is now running the business as CEO and all societal power dynamics and gender roles are completely reversed.

The movie pokes fun at ridiculous stereotypes that define modern society. In Ladies First, women take control, live life unapologetically, and men have to pick up the slack while constantly being objectified.

"I've never tried to just absorb all of the misogynistic qualities that we see in men around us all the time. That was fun! You realize you can do it because you've been exposed to it for so many years. Objectifying my costars... I found it very fun," Pike tells Out.

Ladies First will undeniably enhance Pike's impressive catalog of award-winning roles that resonate with women and the LGBTQ+ community at large. The acclaimed actress is well aware that her passionate fanbase in largely defined by a sapphic audience who resonates with her vast and diverse projects.

"I get to interact with that fanbase most nights after my show. What a cool community to be recognized by and appreciated by. I feel very fortunate. It's changed so wonderfully from when I was in my 20s. It would be a different type of person waiting for me at the stage door! Now, I actually look forward to it!"

The director of the film, Thea Sharrock, was thrilled to bring an empowering story based on women's ability to take charge in all aspects of their lives to Netflix at a time where minorities deserve the spotlight.

"The world is absolutely ready for it. This is the world Rosamund and I are now used to being part of! We're creating our own worlds, so I think we're ready for it and the world is ready for it."
